Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) International Peace Scholarship is a program created by Women to help women reach the peak of their careers.
The PEO International fund awards scholarships to selected women from different countries for graduate study in the United States and Canada.
What is PEO
PEO has over 250,000 members in branches all over US and Canada, who see their organization as a sisterhood and are passionately geared to encouraging women in realizing their full potential in their life’s pursuit.
About PEO International Peace Scholarship
PEO members are of the belief that education is essential to world peace and understanding, the scholarship is based upon demonstrating the fundamental need for education; however, the academic award is not designed to cover all academics or personal expenses.
From inception till date, over $304 million has been granted to over 102,000 women from the organization’s six educational philanthropies, which includes educational scholarships, grants, loans, awards, special projects, and stewardship of Cottey College.
Cottey College is an accredited, private liberal arts and sciences college built specifically for women’s education in Nevada, Missouri.
PEO Educational Loan Fund
The Educational Loan Fund, known as ELF, gives loans to eligible and qualified women who are in need of higher education and financial assistance.
To apply, a recommendation from the local chapter is needed and must be within two years of completing a course of study. The loan granted varies and is based on educational attainment sort after.
PEO International Peace Scholarship
The PEO International Peace Scholarship Fund (IPS), provides scholarships for international women who aspire for graduate studies in the United States and Canada. The maximum amount given to a student in this pursuit is $12,500
PEO Program for Continuing Education
The PEO Program for Continuing Education (PCE) is created to assist women in the United States and Canada who had forgotten their education for a duration of at least two years and wish to continue the program to support themselves and their families.
In this support program, a maximum one-time grant of about $3,000 is given and the amount depends on the available funds and financial need. Grant may not be enough to cover the living expenses or for payment of the student’s past loans. It is intended to help women secure employment or job advancement
PEO Scholar Awards (PSA)
It’s a merit-based award for women in the United States and Canada who wish to pursue their doctorate degree at an accredited university. These awards provide partial support for study and research for women who are willing to make significant contributions in their varied fields of endeavor. Women who are well established in their program, study, or research are given priority. The award amounts to $15,000
PEO STAR Scholarship
The P.E.O. STAR Scholarship awards $2,500 to graduating high school seniors students who wish to further into post-secondary education. To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must show excellence in leadership, extracurricular activities engagement, community service function, academics, and potential for future success.
The applicants should be in their 20s or younger, with a GPA of 3.0, and be a citizen of the United States or Canada.
This is a one-time award and must be used in the academic year following graduation or it will be forfeited.
At the discretion of the recipient, funds may be paid directly to the recipient or to the accredited educational institution.
