Breaking News!!! Naira Marley Granted The Sum Of 2Million Naira Bail With 2 Sureties

The ‘Issa goal' singer popularly known as Naira Marley who was arrested by the EFCC some weeks back over alleged internet fraud have been granted bail.

Naira Marley who appeared for the second time in the federal high court in Ikoyi to witness his bail hearing was how ever grant a sum of 2million naira bail with 2 sureties by the chief judge Justice Nicholas Oweibo over saw proceedings at the court today.

At the resumed bail application, the lead defense counsel, Olalekan Ojo apologized for his absence at the initial arraignment on May 20 due to heavy down poor.

Ojo urged the court to accept the bail application Prima Facie based on the presumption of his innocence in accordance with Section 162 (1).

The defense also pleaded that a liberal approach is taken in hearing the bail application.

The prosecution counsel, lead by Rotimi Oyedepo, however, argued that the temporary release of the singer deos not matter but the final judgment.

The prosecution counsel lead by Rotimi Oyedepo, therefore, urged the court to grant accelerated hearing of the case rather than bail.

He added that since the lawyer of the defendant(defence counsel) said the defendant is a celebrity, then his actions and inactions have a multiple effect on the youths in the entire federation.

Justice Nicholas Oweibo who presided over the bail hearing after listening to the defense and prosecution arguments granted the singer bail to the sum of 2 million Naira with also 2 sureties.

The trial was then adjourned to 22, 23 and 24 of October for accelerated hearing as requested by the prosecution counsel.
